When adopting a puppy it's a good idea to already have a breed in mind. Maybe one that is good with children or one the doesn't need a lot of space. One that doesn't need grooming or one that would make a great show dog if properly trained. Once you have a breed in mind (whether a pure bred or a mixture or even a mutt) you might want to find somewhere in your area where you can get your dream dog. A local dog rescue or a pound might be a good place to start.
